Our First Featured Author Of 2010

Tanya Smith

The Art Of Traveling With Disabilities

This month we are very excited to announce that our Featured Author is Tanya Smith. Ms. Smith is a new and upcoming author. She is someone who absolutely adores writing, books, magazines, newspapers, letters, the dictionary, even braille gets her juices flowing. Anywhere there is a written word, Ms. Smith is all over it like a healthy rash. Okay...healthy and rash don't quite go, but I'm sure you understand.

Tanya spent her formative years teaching English abroad. She spent an unforgettable two years living in Morocco. She bonded with the clucking chickens, on the island of Maldives, where she temporarily lived, and they will forever be a part of her.

Today, she a proud mother of three and a wife that can brew a mean morning tea. Her children are her little becons of joy. When she gets a moment to herself, somewhere between 8 O'clock and 8:05,  she crams in some writing. Tanya has two blogs. One is called read them and eat; a site where she compares the books she reads, to a food she feels sums it up www.readthemandeat.com The other is blog called Splat the Fat and is about her endless quest to lose my pregnancy pounds. http://splatthefat.weebly.com/

We at NewAgeVenus.Com are very excited to be featuring her amazing new work.

I was a bit cornered, by a friend, who asked us to host an International Exchange Student. I was very apprehensive, but felt obligated. I wanted to know more though before I would agree. As a host family, we would be asked to provide room and board for an International exchange student. My friend explained that more than a place to stay, you are asked to open your family life to a student from a different culture by including them in your regular activities.

Oahu VS. Maui

Hawaii is a chain of eight major islands including: Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Niihau, Oahu, and The Big Island. Hawaii is an amazing place to visit, but there are distinctions to each island that make each its own unique travel destination.  I had the privileged of traveling to the islands of Oahu and Maui in early November of 2009.
