I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to learn that admission to the Portland International Rose Test Garden is FREE, my favorite price; however, donations are gladly accepted to help maintain this priceless beauty. As you enter the attraction at the top of the stairs it provides a breath taking view of both the Garden and an amazing overview of Portland itself, “The City of Roses.”

Swine Flu Strikes Home

He began complaining of a bad headache. Shortly thereafter he said his throat was hurting. He looked lethargic and had a bright red cherry face, the kind that lets you know they have a high fever. I felt his face and he was burning up. A quick check of his temperature revealed that he was already up to a 102.5 degree temperature. He was now also complaining that his legs hurt so bad that he could barely walk, and was holding on to things to keep himself up. He began coughing, it was one of those deep, ugly, dry, barking type coughs; the ones where the child can’t seem to catch their breath and makes a mother cringe.

The Susan G. Komen 2009 Race for the Cure at Tom McCall Waterfront Park

People were adorned with pink and white balloons, scarves, wigs, capes and feathers all in the spirit of bringing awareness to Breast Cancer and to raise funds to cure Breast Cancer. In fact, there was 45,000+ people in attendance.
